Hello Students,
Throughout this brief summer session you will be responsible for creating blogs and responding to those of your peers and myself. This blog will be your chance to reflect on and analyze specific texts assigned for this course and issues that come up as we explore four genres of essay: personal, discovery, ethnography and argument. Due dates are found on your syllabus following a list of readings.
Basic directions: Before class on Wednesday choose the assigned reading that most intrigued you and blog about your initial reactions, personal ties, an assessment of rhetorical strategies and effectiveness (what was good/ bad about the piece?), and an answer to the "so what" question (how does the essay tie into the chapter/ genre we are currently studying?). Your response should be at least one good-sized paragraph/ about 8 sentences long.
Then sometime the following day (Thursdays) you will be required to provide commentary and/or questions on the blogs of each of your blogmates (you only need to write 1-2 sentences/ comments for each blog). The more thorough your dialogue with each other, the more likely you are to learn!
I look forward to working with all of you.
